1. 与老外交流最不该说的八句话 (Source: many, many available on the Internet. Check with google or baidu.)

"一戒：不问年龄。西方人的年龄是保密的。特别是24岁以后绝不会谈论自己的年龄。
二戒：不问财物。一个人的收入和随身所戴的财物都与个人的能力、地位、脸面等有关。
三戒：不问婚姻。这属于个人隐私。让一位老大不小的外宾交待自己尚未婚配并不是件愉快的事情
四戒：不问住址。西方人认为给人留下住址，就得请对方到家作客。西方人是不喜欢随便请人到家里作客的。
五戒：不问经历。这是对方的“老底”，也是商业秘密，西方人是不会轻易让人摸到自己的底牌的。外宾认为这是不友好的盘问，是干涉
别人的私生活。
六戒：不问信仰。政治见解和宗教信仰都是非常严肃的。
七戒：不问行踪。
八戒：不问吃饭。。"

对陌生人，不论是老外或是中国人，这些都不是除便乱问的。但是熟朋友，同事之间，往往有此发问。 (#2 除外)
It is simply not true. In general, you don't talk to any strangers, 老外 or not 老外, about such topics. However, between friends and colleague, such topics DO come up often. As for #2, of course, you don't ask anyone, Chinese or 老外 about how much they are worth.
每天一起练口语.
网上很多。不少大型的学习网上都有。不知原出于书本为是笔记。内的中文注解错误甚多。(大约 20%)。几乎每课都有错点。其中收集的口语，有大约10%与每天真正用的口语无关.

Have a little wine, punk. 小伙子，喝一点酒吧。（可以缓解一下精神紧张）--》修改/注解: ” punk “ is not 小伙子. You just don’t call any 小伙子 a punk! 小阿飞/流氓 is closer.

26. Oh, Young Friends!
　　McGovern used to be a clergyman. 麦克葛根天生就是当牧师的材料。=??? Without context, this does not say “是当牧师的材料”’; rather, it says “麦克葛根以前是当牧师的。“
　　Hmm, I'm stoned. 哼，我是个老古板。--> ”stoned”: slang for intoxicated. (by alcohol or drugs)
　　Look, he's high. 瞧，他是个高傲的家伙。-->”high”, slang for euphoric experience under intoxication by alcohol, drugs or other stimulation.
　　He looks gay. 他神气活现。（但这不是句好话，至少正常人不能接受的）--> gay is now a common slang for homosexual, so be careful how you use it.
　　Peace, baby! 宝贝，安静下来！-->Peace is just 和平. This greeting originated in the 60s. It started with the beatniks, the anti-war movement, and later the hippies. For a while it has become mainstream English. But that greeting is now considered as passé.
　　I try to seek alternative life styles. 我试着寻求其他的生活方式。-->Alternative life style means ones that are not accepted as mainstream.
　　You guys are sexists. 你们男人都是色鬼。（sexist就是很多人说的colorwolf）-->sexist does not mean 色鬼. A sexist is someone who holds an extreme view of sexual dominance of one gender. 你们男人都是“男性优越感主义“的人.

假装资料有些商业性的广告假装为学习资料(e.g. ２１位英语高手背单词经验的大总结)，或是把网上别人发过的贴子，偷偷加上一个连接。其中如
星火科技，奇迹英语智能超右脑记忆法, ESL海湾， Speak2me 是及 "找老外聊天是主要途径之一" 都是广告或是有潜在的广告。请大家小心不要转贴这些贴子。

举个例，有一编叫做“ 这是内有 Speak2me 的告白，但不知原文出自 Speak2me 或是 Speak2me 把它借了来改装的。Speak2me 是一个用 virtual reality girl 来跟你说话。Speak2me 在文里或画面背景代商业卖告白。

Here is something I wrote at Tianya some time ago.

Recently, I have been coming across a glut of advertisements by the Speak2me English training school. Most of the advertisements are in the form of taking old posts from the Internet and sticking in their own ad in the first of a list of recommendations. (E.g. there is literally hundreds of posts that goes by the title 外企工作三年给大家一些建议附学习网站及资料--with several different posters and different "sign up codes}, presumably to identify the source so as to pay out commissions to those guys. ).

　　 Never having had any free lunch in my life, I decided to investigate. First I came across several news releases (from reputable news agencies such as Reuters) about the parent company of Speak2me making a major foray into China. Several reviews paint a glowing picture of the organization and its methodology.
　　
　　 Still unconvinced, I dug a little deeper and came across a promotional video at youtube. Oh, lordy, lord! What will they think of next. Well, no free lunch after all.

　　 you will see what I mean. Wait till you come to the point about "advertising opportunity" and you will see why Speak2me is paying all these guys to go into hundreds of Learn English BBS sites to put up "hidden ads" to lure you into their site. What they do is to sell ads for companies such as Starbucks in their "Language training" as part of the material, how cleaver!
